We made reservations for 4:30 pm and decided we wanted to do happy hour since we had reservations later in the evening as well. We arrived about 10-15 minutes early, walked in and there was no one at the front desk, another gentleman was waiting in the waiting area so we took a seat and waited. Never once were acknowledged. We discovered they did not open until 4:30 that is fine, but if you are allowing people to come in and wait at least acknowledge them. While we were waiting 2 more groups of people walked in and were standing waiting.
4:35 pm and someone finally comes to the front desk and begins helping the groups that walked in after us. When we pointed out that the gentleman next to us was here first and that we had a 4:30 reservation we got a rude OH and he looked away and asked if anyone was a club member. they helped the other gentleman who happened to be a club member and had priority seating. They called us up, we asked if Happy Hour was only in the bar, to which they replied yes and said we don’t take reservations for the bar (well then maybe you should update the reservation system that asks if you want bar seating). So our reservation was canceled and we were told to just go to the bar … now by this time almost all the seating was taken are more had come in while we waited.
Happy Hour Experience
- Seating: The bar area was small and crowded, making it difficult to find a spot for happy hour.
Drinks and Food:
- Drinks:
- Mango Mojito: Refreshing.
- Pomegranate Mojito: Overpowered by seltzer water, not very good.
- Appetizers:
- Fried Artichokes: Fried and served with a remoulade sauce. Lightly breaded, tasty but not heavily seasoned.
- Firecracker Shrimp: Tempura fried with a kim chee sauce. Balanced heat and sweetness, tasty.
- Kim Chee Calamari: Lightly fried with vegetables. Good, light, and crispy breading but lacked kimchi flavor.
- Lobster Tartare: Fried capers served with garlic butter toast. We disliked it due to the rubbery texture and cold temperature, mostly tasted of underseasoned sauce rather than lobster.
