The San Diego Automotive Museum is in the former California State Building constructed in 1935 for the California Pacific International Exposition in Balboa Park. The museum houses a collection of cars and motorcycles showcasing American automotive culture.
There are interactive exhibits such as a kid’s corner with automotive-themed learning and play stations, photos in a full-sized race car, video game booths to test their driving skills, and more. Test your skills in a race simulator just like the professionals for $10 for non-members and $7.50 for members. You can stop in the theater and learn about the California native and legendary drag racer Don “The Snake” Prudhomme.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The museum is part of the venues available with the Balboa Expoloers Pass. General admission is $15.25 for adults 18-25 years old, $11.50 for seniors 65 years and older, $11.50 for military with ID, $11.50 for students with ID, $10 for youth 4-17 years old, and children 3 and younger are free.
