****Update from when we visited El Jefe’s used to share the space with Kanpai Sushi which looks to no longer be a restaurant at Circus Circus. While we visited the food court area was under renovation, so most of our dining was done at Silver Legacy, The Eldorado, or outside of the hotel. ***

El Jefe’s is located in the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino in Reno, NV. They offer limited evening hours from Thursday to Sunday and are closed from Monday to Wednesday. Prices are reasonable starting at $9.99. They offer a happy hour menu Sunday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM and a Late-night party for 21 years and older on Friday & Saturday from 8:30 PM to close.

The food was good, nothing to rave about but a nice place to have a relaxed dinner.

Street Fries – Jalapeño Butter, Garlic Cilantro & Cotija – who can go wrong with loaded french fries? The fries were crispy and the jalapeno butter provided a nice little kick.

Spicy El Jefe’s Wings – Habanero-Garlic Butter Sauce, Chipotle Ranch Dip – The wings are crispy and non-breaded wings which offers a nice contrast to normal chicken wings. They had a nice heat to them not overpowering which you sometimes get when habanero is used.

Homemade Chips and Salas comes with a trio of salsas Roasted Tomatillo-Mild, Salsa Roja-Medium, and Habanero-Lime-Hot.

Street Tacos – come with cilantro, white onion, lime, salsa, and your choice of meat (Carne Asada – Pollo – Carnitas – Chorizo de Casa). We did a couple of combo orders of pollo, carnitas, and carne asada. Just basic street tacos there was not a lot of flavor to the meat.

El Jefe’s House Margarita – El Sativo Tequila, Triple Sec, OJ, Sweet & Sour

Spicy Pineapple Chile Margarita – Silver Tequila, Lime Juice, Agave, Pineapple Juice, Jalapeños, Tajin Rim
