In the heart of Old Monterey Casa Munras is a cute boutique hotel. The hotel pays homage to the rich Spanish heritage of the area and has been providing services since 1824. The hotel has many offerings for guests from beautiful gardens to a day spa, pool, and an onsite restaurant. You are conveniently located within a short walk to some of Monterey’s best shopping, dining, beaches, and attractions like Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row, and Monterey Bay Aquarium.

We went to Monterey for our 13th wedding anniversary. So we did not spend much time at the hotel, we did walk around the grounds to check them out and also enjoyed a nice dinner one evening. The room was cozy and clean and the window offered nice natural light. The only issue we ran into was that it was hot in the evening and we could not find an AC control, when we called the desk we were informed they don’t have it due to being so close to the bay. They did bring us a fan for our room which helped some. The staff was friendly and accommodating, when our room was not ready upon arrival they immediately found a ready room to switch us to so we did not have to wait around. It is also worth mentioning the hotel is pet-friendly. Unfortunately, we did not get many photos of the room and forgot about it until on the way home.

Estaban Restaurant

We celebrated our 13th anniversary with a quiet dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

Dining Experience:

  • The main restaurant has a bar and dining area; it may get loud on busier nights due to limited dining space.
  • Beautiful dining patio area with a fireplace and fire pit, lots of seating.
  • The patio offers a variety of seating options: high-top tables, regular tables, and seating around the fire pits.
  • Friendly and attentive staff; received a complimentary glass of champagne from the head chef.
  • The restaurant specializes in tapas but also offers full-course meals.
  • If you plan to order Paella, order it first as it takes approximately 45 minutes for them to cook it. It is cooked fresh to order.
  • Live music is available on some nights on the patio.
  • Patio heaters are provided for chilly evenings under the overhang.
